Cheap Roller Knee Pads
Has anybody tried this style of roller knee pads yet?

They are no Racatac for sure but I needed several sets of something for a new crew and picked up some of these. I was a little worried at first because they only had 6 wheels rather than 8 but they roll nicely and seem quite sturdy.
I caught them on sale for $18 at Harbor Freight, To view links in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily.. Time will tell but so far so good.

Mike, I have already had one customer buy roller knee pads for cleaning and another one just asked recently. This would be great for the home owner. I like the tray in front to hold a brush. Would be nice if the Bucket Dolly had a tray. What's the yellow circle between knees? Thanks, Al

sweet. Harbor always has cheap stuff...never had any problems with things I buy there. Even if I did I still paid less than half the price that I would pay for namebrand stuff.

It's a little tray with a big magnet. Not too handy for us other than maybe holding razor blades I guess.

I havent used them personally but from what I've read on another board; they tend to break easy.

I buy the ones from Bucket Dolly. About $50. They are stronger material and have better ball bearing rollers and 8 wheels on them. As long as you put WD 40 on the wheels ocassionally, they will fly across the floor. We modified a couple of them with a wooden tray on the front (removable with a wing nut). Comes in handy to hold small containers, colorseal tools and bottles, caulk, etc..
They're good for your abs too!

Here are pics of one of them modified. As you can see, they get lots of use.

Been through 2 of them already. Both cracked and broke at the mold edges.

Roller Knee Pads
Some things are worth trying to save a few bucks on, but others are not. The life span of roller knee pads, if treated properly, is quite a while. We have a few that are probably 5 years old and still work perfectly. Oiling the casters is very important. Spending $50-$70 on a tool that you will use every day for that many years, is money well spent. Just my .02.

I thought these WERE $50 rolling knee pads until I saw them at Harbor Freight for $18!

Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you don't. I had my doubts about these (maybe more so now). I didn't know HF sold them and saw them on the rack one day. I pulled them out the box right there and rolled around on them like a skateboard (I weigh over 225#). At that point I had to buy at least one set since a crowd was gathering.
Steve is probably right that the ones from To view links in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily. for $56.50 are the best in this class, but got 3 sets of these for $50 so it was worth a shot. I'm sure I'll learn the hard way (again) about using cheap tools in this biz.

FYI.......I have the Racatac with the chest support, the blue one described below by Steve and had to have another one "quickly" for a large job. Purchased the red one from Harbor Freight. JUNK...It only lasted one day and broke. The guy on it weighed 185 pounds..tops and the floor was level The blue roller and rack a tac kept going and the other one is in the trash. I sold Snap on Tools for over 20 years and know the price you pay for a quality product....but....I also know that the use of good quality products compensate me ten fold over time. Learned my lesson to be better prepared next time.

Just ordered the roller knee pads and the bucket dolly...should have done it a while back.
Hoping they arrive by next Thursday because I've got 800 ft of a new install to colorseal on Friday.

I had my Harbor Freight rolling knee pads for two months, then one of the wheels cracked and came right off. Not very good quality - IMHO.

Ab roller
My roller knee pads aren't in yet and I had 800+ feet of 18x18 porcelain to colorseal on Friday.
I used an Ab Roller that my friend got at a garage sale. Worked awesome!

It's a great substitute until my roller knee pads come in, I ordered them on June 4th and don't have them yet so hopefully they'll be here soon.
It's got a spot for my chamois and everything!

They must have redesigned these at HF. I have a set that has trays on the front and both sides that a toothbrush fits perfect into. I have had 4 knee sergurys on the same knee and put a lot of pressure on the other and have had no problems with this one. It was actually on $14.00 here. Just my 2 cents.
