April 7 2005, 2:36 PM
I hope he cleaned the grout before color staining otherwise it will just come right up, because the stain cannot adhere to dirt. From the picks that grout looks pretty dirty--doesn't look like it was cleaned first.

Great Job, nice pix but sincerely hope those lines that were sealed did not look anything like the lines below it.
Can't say I have not had to learn the hard way a few times myself.
What product did you use?

Come on guys, give me a break. Do you really think I would do something that stupid?
I taped off an area, cleaned it, and color stained it. I want the customer to see the exact lines between dirty and better then new. The phone call the next day was "Oh my GOD, let's do it!" and I did not even quote her a price yet.
2500sf in a office cafeteria = $9750.00 SOLD!

This was IAF. Original color was an off white or natural grey. Hard to tell. Gave it two coats as normal and turned out great.

Maybe that should have been explained at first(that you were giving a demo)--I am just giving my observation of what the picture looks like. I could care less how much money you made off the job. Try somewhat to be modest next time. I just care about if someone trying to take short cuts in my field of work, because it could eventually hurt my way of living.

Maybe you should not have assumed anything. Hey, all I asked Cary to do was post some before and after pics. I then answered your questions about the pics and gave a price of what I charged which I have seen you and everyone else do in the past. Chill out, it's all good. Just trying to let others know what can be done and what can be made on jobs. Believe me, I am the last person to be taking short cuts on jobs.

John,
Thank you for the photos and the amount of your bid. In no way do I feel you are a boaster, show off or immodest. The way I look at it, if good money can not be made I want no part of it. That’s the reason most of us do less carpets and more tile and grout. My thinking is, if you can do it, so can I, but not for nothing. That’s how I feel about Wonder Step; it is a new road to go down and very profitable. I look at things a lot different when I stopped thinking like a cleaner, but someone who wants to work less and make more. Who was it that said, insanities is doing the same thing each day and expecting a different result?
Take care and may each day be profitable.
Ray

Thanks for your feel good point that you had to include in this topic. I have a very positive outlook in this industry as well--so, what's your point? I hope people in this industry would want to work smarter, not harder.

Dereck,
Whats your deal? Why the snide remarks? I don't understand your motivation.

Snides remarks----I make one observation and Mr. JR throws out a snide remark. So, you make sure you ask your buddy the same question?

Not to butt in, but I personally did not take John's comments as boastful, I took them as, "There is money to be made out their folks by offering this service and this is what I charged"
This thread comment is something I may find on the ICS carpet cleaning BB where no one can have an opinion in left field without being attacked.
I have been helped many times my many people and thanks to all, Hopefully I may have helped a time or two as well.
James

How many uneducated, looking for a quick buck, trying to price gouge people do you actually know that even know how to log on or for that fact, even own a COMPUTER?
Doing a subject search, most people on this board are here to exchange information and help each other from what I can tell......
No shots at you Derek, just my rightful .02 cents for what its worth
